Leila's owner Derick Eksteen, is struggling to find work. He has started up a car wash service at his house in Ashbury and is currently managing to wash at least three cars per day, Derick's wife works as a cashier at the local Spar. Derick's parents in law live with them as his father in law has had a stroke and needs constant caring. Leila has a safe enclosed yard in which to roam.
